Joey Marquez, actor and ex-Paranaque Mayor is convicted of graft after being found by the Commission on Audit that the "walis-tingting" (brooms) were overpriced by P462,702 and did not go through proper bidding procedures. These happened from January 1996 to September 1997 during Marquez' tenure as the Mayor of the said city.

With this case, Marquez could be jailed for a period of 30 to 50 years. He posted P150,000 bail after he was convicted, on top of the P90,000 he posted before the start of the trial.

When asked for a comment during his interview in dzBB radio, this is what he said:

""We respect the decision of the Sandiganbayan, but this is a process that we have to take. We have to look on the decision and some of the findings, and probably include some of the findings that might not have been included".
